If you’re planning to visit Albufeira, the easiest way to get there is by flying into Faro Airport and then taking a bus directly to Albufeira Old Town. The journey is quick, convenient, and offers a stress-free start to your trip, allowing you to dive straight into the charm of this beautiful coastal town.

Places to Stay:

Studio Marpesia Airbnb
During my stay in Albufeira, I opted for Studio Marpesia, an Airbnb located right in the heart of Albufeira Old Town. The location couldn’t have been more perfect. Just a short walk from the main attractions, it made exploring the town super easy. One thing to note is that the studio doesn’t have an actual bed. Instead, the sofa folds out into a bed, which worked fine for me, but if you’re someone who prefers a proper bed, this might be something to consider. On the plus side, the studio is fully air-conditioned, which is essential if you’re visiting during the hot summer months. And if Studio Marpesia isn’t quite what you’re after, there are plenty of other accommodation options just a stone’s throw from the city centre and beaches.

Things to do:
A must-do activity in Albufeira is taking a boat tour to the Bengali Caves. I booked the tour through GetYourGuide, and it turned out to be a fantastic experience. The boat ride itself lasts about 2.5 to 3 hours, and along the way, you’ll be treated to stunning views of the coastline. They welcome you aboard with a glass of wine, and as you cruise along, you’ll learn about the history of the local beaches and the Bengali Caves. One of the highlights of the tour is the stop for a swim in the ocean, which was the perfect way to cool off and enjoy the crystal-clear waters. There’s a bar on board offering water and alcoholic drinks, which is great if you’re looking to relax even more. Tip: Arrive early to secure a comfy, padded spot at the front of the boat for the best views and a chance to fully unwind.

Go to the Albufeira Beach
Just a short walk from Studio Marpesia, you’ll find Albufeira Beach—a perfect spot for sunbathing, swimming, and relaxing. On your way to the beach, you’ll notice several places where you can pick up games like volleyball, bat and ball, or a frisbee. I highly recommend grabbing one to make your beach day even more fun. For a bit of adrenaline, head to the rocks near the beach, where you’ll find a popular spot for jumping off into the refreshing ocean below. It’s a great way to spice up your beach day if you’re feeling adventurous!

Places to eat:

Esplanada do Túnel
One of my favorite spots for a meal in Albufeira is Esplanada do Túnel. This restaurant offers incredible views of Albufeira Beach, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy a meal with a view. They have a wide range of options on the menu, from refreshing beers and sangria to delicious breakfast and lunch dishes. It’s a great place to spend some time and soak in the atmosphere, especially if you’re after a relaxed meal with stunning surroundings. Plus, there are plenty of other cafes and restaurants nearby if you want to try something different.

Três Coroas
If you’re looking for a more secluded and intimate dining experience, then Três Coroas is an absolute must-visit. Tucked away in a quiet spot, it feels like you’ve discovered a hidden gem. The restaurant offers a variety of mouthwatering local dishes, complemented by fantastic wines and desserts. The highlight, however, is the view—you can’t beat the scenery, especially at sunset. Watching the sun dip below the horizon while enjoying a delicious meal is an unforgettable experience. The service is also top-notch, making this place one of my favorite spots in the Algarve.

Albufeira is a town that perfectly blends stunning landscapes, great food, and plenty of things to do, making it an ideal destination for a getaway. Whether you’re exploring the beaches, sailing to the Bengali Caves, or enjoying some local cuisine, you’re sure to have an unforgettable time.
