Go to the Australian Open
As a tennis fan, one of the biggest highlights of my time in Melbourne was attending the Australian Open. Held every January at Melbourne Park, this Grand Slam event is one of the most prestigious tennis tournaments in the world. Not only are the matches incredible, but the entire atmosphere is electric. There’s so much to enjoy beyond the court, too—live music performances, delicious food and drinks, and interactive fan zones that add to the excitement. Whether you’re a die-hard tennis fan or just someone looking for a fun day out, the Australian Open is an event you won’t forget.

Go to Hosier Lane
If you’re into street art, Hosier Lane is an absolute must-see. This famous laneway is like an ever-changing outdoor art gallery, right in the heart of the city near Flinders Street. The walls are covered with colorful and thought-provoking artwork from local and international artists. It’s a great place to get lost in Melbourne’s creative energy and snap some awesome photos. Every time you visit, you’ll likely see something new, which is what makes this spot so special. I loved wandering through and appreciating the raw talent and stories that are told through the vibrant murals.
Tour the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG)
For anyone who’s a fan of sports, a tour of the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) is a must. This is one of the largest stadiums in the world, with a capacity of over 100,000 seats, and it holds a special place in Australian sports history. During the tour, I got to explore different areas of the stadium, including the players’ dressing rooms, the exclusive Members’ area, and the massive Grand Stand. The MCG is a sporting icon, and the tour gives you a fascinating glimpse into its legacy. As a bonus, the tour includes a visit to the National Sports Museum, where I learned even more about Australia’s sports culture—definitely worth it if you’re into history or sports memorabilia.
