Phuket, located in southern Thailand in the Andaman Sea, is one of the country’s most popular destinations. It’s the largest island in Thailand and sits about 860 kilometers (534 miles) south of Bangkok. Whether you’re drawn in by the stunning beaches, vibrant nightlife, or the luxury resorts, Phuket has a little bit of everything.
Places To Stay:
Hotel Tide Phuket Beach Front
If you’re looking for a laid-back, beachfront stay, I highly recommend Hotel Tide Phuket Beach Front. This hotel offers modern, comfortable rooms, and it’s just a few steps away from the beach. Whether you’re soaking up the sun by the pool or enjoying the ocean view, the atmosphere here is incredibly relaxed and peaceful. There’s also a bar and restaurant on-site, making it a great spot to grab a drink and unwind after a day of exploring. I think it’s a perfect place if you’re planning to spend just a couple of days in Phuket especially if you’re short on time. Honestly, two nights is all you need to enjoy the highlights of the island.
Phi Phi Islands
Just a short distance from Phuket, the Phi Phi Islands are another must-see destination that I always recommend. Known for their crystal-clear waters, dramatic cliffs, and vibrant marine life, these islands have a unique charm that’s hard to match. I’ve visited the Phi Phi Islands a few times, and every trip has been an unforgettable adventure.
Places To Stay:
ChaoKoh Phi Phi Hotel and Resort
For those looking for a comfortable stay with great amenities, ChaoKoh Phi Phi Hotel and Resort is a solid choice. The rooms are modern and spacious, and there’s an outdoor pool to help you relax between island adventures. The on-site restaurant is convenient if you’re in the mood for a laid-back meal after a day of exploring, and the resort’s central location makes it easy to access the nearby beaches and attractions. It’s a great base for exploring Phi Phi’s beauty.
Things To Do:
Things to Do:
Visit Maya Bay: Maya Bay, made famous by the movie The Beach, is one of the most iconic spots on Phi Phi Island. The only way to get there is by boat, and when you arrive, you’ll be blown away by the towering limestone cliffs surrounding the bay. Once ashore, you can walk along the white sand beach and take in the natural beauty of the area. But, a few things to keep in mind:
- Limited Access: Maya Bay has restricted access to help preserve its environment. It’s open for limited hours, and there may be a cap on the number of visitors at any given time.
- Swimming Restrictions: Swimming in the bay is not allowed to protect the coral reefs, so be sure to check current guidelines before planning any activities.
- No Littering: The area is a national park, so littering is strictly prohibited. Always take your waste back with you to keep the bay clean.
- Best Time to Visit: To avoid the crowds, visit early in the morning or later in the afternoon. The peace and quiet during these times really let you enjoy the beauty of the bay.
- Boat Access Only: You’ll need to book a boat tour to reach Maya Bay, so make sure to plan ahead.
- Park Fees: There’s a 400 Baht entry fee to visit the bay, which goes toward maintaining the national park.

The Phi Phi Viewpoint hike
If you’re up for a bit of a challenge, the Phi Phi Viewpoint hike is a must-do. It’s a short but steep trek that takes about 20-30 minutes, depending on how fast you go. The trail leads you through lush jungle and rewards you with some of the most breathtaking panoramic views of the island. It’s one of the best ways to get a real sense of the natural beauty of Phi Phi, so I highly recommend it if you’re up for the climb.
Visit Reggae Bar
For a fun night out, the Reggae Bar on Phi Phi is a lively spot to check out. The bar is known for its Muay Thai fights, where anyone can volunteer to step into the ring (and get a free drink in the process). It’s all in good fun, and the atmosphere is vibrant and social, making it a great place to meet fellow travelers. It’s definitely one of those spots that’s full of energy, so if you’re looking for a place to have fun and let loose, this is it. Just a heads-up—it’s cash-only, and it can get pretty crowded, especially in the evening.
Krabi
Krabi is another destination I absolutely love, and it’s just a short trip from Phuket. It offers a more relaxed vibe compared to the hustle and bustle of Phi Phi and Phuket, making it a great place to unwind. Krabi has some of the most picturesque beaches and stunning limestone cliffs, so there’s no shortage of natural beauty.
Where to Stay:
Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas: Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas is the perfect place to stay if you want to treat yourself to a little luxury. This resort offers beautiful views of the Andaman Sea, and you can enjoy spacious rooms or private villas with all the comforts you need. The on-site restaurants are fantastic, and there’s even a spa if you want to indulge in a relaxing massage after a day of exploring. It’s located on Ao Nang Beach, which gives you access to both a peaceful environment and the bustling beach area nearby.
Keep in mind that Centara Grand is on the pricier side, so it might not be the best option if you’re traveling on a tight budget. But if you’re looking for comfort and a great location, it’s hard to beat.
Things To Do:
Monkey Trail, Ao Nang
The Monkey Trail in Ao Nang is a short hike that connects Ao Nang Beach to the quieter Phra Nang Beach. The trail is about 1.7 kilometers long and takes you through a jungle path. Along the way, you’ll likely spot local monkeys, so be sure to keep your belongings secure. While the hike is fairly easy, there are some steep sections, so comfortable shoes are a must. Once you reach Phra Nang Beach, you’ll be rewarded with a peaceful, less-crowded spot to relax and enjoy the views.
